Mark Lanegan – Blues Funeral LP.
Mark Lanegan Band – Blues Funeral. Dark green vinyl double LP.
Blues Funeral was Mark Lanegan’s first solo studio album in eight years when it was released in 2012.
In between albums the former Screaming Trees frontman had been extensively recording and touring with Belle and Sebastian singer-songwriter Isobel Campbell as well as collaborating with numerous other artists.
The Blues Funeral album, like its predecessor Bubblegum, features a host of guest musicians, most of whom have been involved in Mark Lanegan’s long career at some point in time.
The list includes Lanegan’s former Queens Of The Stone Age band members Josh Homme, Alain Johannes and Chris Goss. Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons played on all twelve tracks.
Other musicians that contributed to the album were Mark Lanegan’s The Gutter Twins band mates Greg Dulli and Dave Rosser, Porno for Pyros bassist Martyn LeNoble, singer-songwriter Duke Garwood and Mark Lanegan Band regulars Aldo Struyf and David Catching.
The LP that Pia is holding in her post is the 2012 European release of Blues Funeral issued as a gatefold cover double album on dark green vinyl.
